Lemon Tree

When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me
"Come here and take a lesson from the lovely book fair spree"
"Don't put your faith in facebook, my boy" my father said to me
"I fear you'll find that facebook is like the book fair spree"

Book fair spree, very pretty, and the fresh book is sweet
But the price of the good book is impossible to forfeit
Book fair spree, very pretty, and the fresh book is sweet
But the power of the good author is impossible to forfeit

One day midst the book fair spree, my love and I did lie
A blue light so sweet that when she 'liked', the stars rose in the sky
We passed that summer lost in love, beneath the book fair spree
The music of likes and thumbs up hid my father's words from me

One day the likes left without a word, comments took away the sun
And in the dark facebook left behind, I knew what she had done
She left me for another, it's a common tale but true
A sadder man, but wiser now, I sing these words to you

Book fair spree, very pretty, and the fresh book is sweet
But the price of the good book is impossible to forfeit
Book fair spree, very pretty, and the fresh book is sweet
But the power of the good author is impossible to forfeit
